How to Duplicate Your Project Steps
- Go to Reports/Data Download page.
- Ensure your organization is selected.
- Use the Assignment Data bar if you want to create the duplicate project with people assignments. If note, it's better to use the Task Data bar. Click CSV Download button and save it to your local computer. When you save it, it's best to give the file name the name of your new project. NOTE: Using the Assignment Data report is good for including people assignments, but if a task is assigned to more than one member, this process will create separate tasks for each person. Step 14 below explains how to fix this.
- Open the CSV file with Excel, and make sure you keep it as a CSV. (Don't convert it to an .xlsx or .xls file type.)
- Your CSV file will have all of your projects, which you don't want. Find the row where your project name starts (using the project name column) and delete all other project rows above and below your target project rows.
- Don't touch the CSV file columns.
- Save the CSV file.
- Close the CSV file.
- Back in Pie, go the Project List page.
- Click on the three dots icon (kabab icon) to the right of the Create Project and Open Last Project buttons and then select "Import project CSV file..."
- In the Search field, find and select the Workspace.
- Click the blue Import Project button and select your saved CSV file from your local computer to import. This will import the file into a new project and you should see a popup letting you know when it's done. It shouldn't take more than 3 to 10 seconds. If you receive an error message, it could be because of some odd formatting, so feel free email support@pie.me for help and include the CSV in the email.
- Open your new project and check all content.
- As noticed in step 3 above, if you used the Assignment Data report bar and have project tasks assigned to multiple people, this process will create duplicate tasks for each person. To fix this, pick one task and reassign everyone to the same task and then delete the duplicate tasks.
