You can connect your Pie organization to Claude so you can ask about your organization workspaces, projects, and recipes. You can even prompt Claude to make edits in your projects. This connection is provided through Pie's MCP server. This article will explain how to set it up.
For ChatGPT, see the Connecting Pie to ChatGPT article.
Availability
This feature is available for Pie organizations on the Enterprise plan and during the Trial period while evaluating Pie, which includes the full Enterprise feature set.
Team Access and Security
When any of your team members connect ChatGPT or Claude to Pie, their access to project and recipe data remains the same as when they sign in to the Pie application. Pie’s API uses the same strict security model as the Pie application. So, project managers, executives, workspace admins, and project team members all retain their same level of access. The AI assistant will not provide answers outside of those permissions.
Terminology
AI assistant: ChatGPT or Claude.
Pie connector: The connection that links an AI assistant to the Pie API through Pie’s MCP server.
MCP server: The Pie service that exposes Pie data and actions to the AI assistant.
Agent: An AI assistant configured to perform multi-step tasks on a user’s behalf.

Connect Pie to Claude Steps
- Open your Claude Desktop app on your computer or your Claude web app on your browser.
- Click your lower left avatar and select "Settings".
- Scroll down to and click "Connectors". (For Claude you click "Connectors", not "Plugins" as you would with ChatGPT.)
- On the Connectors page, click the white "Add" button, then select "Add custom connector" in its dropdown.
- On the "Add custom connector" popup window,
a. Enter a name for your connector such as "PieMatrix" or "Pie Projects". (It's recommended not to use "Pie" as the only label.)
b. Enter the MCP server URL "https://my.pie.me/mcp"
c. Click "Continue" - In the next window leave all settings as they are and click the "Add" button in the lower right.
- The next window shows the Pie logo and the "Connect" button. Click it to continue.
- A new browser tab will open a page on our server. This is for you to choose which organization you belong to that you want to connect. Select the organization's radio button.
- At the bottom are the options for read only or read and write. If you would like to see what content the AI assistant will have access to in Pie, select "see what the AI agent can change." Clicking this will open a separate browser tab and you can see what are the objects the agent can read and what it can change or not change. After reading that, close that tab and go back to the previous page.
- Click the "Approve access" button.
- You are then brought back to Claude's settings page and it should show that your connector is connected.
- Close the settings window.
- Start a new chat session.
- You're ready to start! You can ask your agent if it is indeed connect with a prompt like "Are you connected to [your connector name] connector"? It should answer back yes.
- Now give it a try, such as list my projects under [workspace name] workspace and it should give you the list.
Be creative with your prompts. Ensure you ask as much detail as possible. If you don't like the format of how the agent replied, just tell it what you prefer. With the read+write connection, you can ask to to make edits like add content, assign a person to a project, mark a task done, etc.
You can create a saved, named agent built with skills that runs on a schedule. For example, an agent that creates an executive status report every Monday morning.
