- Click the Add Files button to upload a file.
- You can also drag and drop a file onto your project from your desktop.
Upload a file at the slice level
This method is for uploading files to the slice level. When you have a slice selected, it acts as a filter for that part of the project
- Open a project and then click the FILES tab at the top of the page under the project name.
- Select as slice
- Ensure the SLICE-LEVEL ONLY sub-tab under the pie is selected.
- Click the Add Files button to upload a file.
- You can also drag and drop a file onto your slice from your desktop.
Upload a file at the task level
- Expand the task.
- In the action button set, click on the paperclip icon.
- Then click the Add File button and find the file in your local directory to upload.
- You can also drag and drop a file onto a task from your desktop.
When you view the task level or slice level attachment bar on the project FILES list, hover over the file location text ("slice" or "task") you will see a popup showing you its location in the project or recipe. Then just click on the blue text in that popup to take you to the location.
Upload a file with drag-and-drop
You can drag a file from your computer desktop on to any of the following Pie objects to add the file. Drag directly on to:
- A personal task on the On My Plate page
- A project on the Project List page
- A project when the FILES tab is selected
- A project slice when the FILES tab is selected and a slice is selected
- A project task
- Same as above for recipes
Upload a file in a Recipe
File uploads in a recipe works the same as uploading into a project as noted in all of the above options. The benefit of uploading a file in a recipe is that file will be available in any projects created from the recipe.
File versioning
While uploading a file, if the file with the exact same name already exist in that location (project level, slice level, or task level), it will ask you to either replace it or add a new version. Let's say you are uploading a file named "test.docx" and uploaded it to the project level of your project. If a colleague uploads test.docx to the project level, they will get prompted that the file exist popup. If they upload test.docx in a slice instead or at a task level, then they will not get the popup file already exist message.
This is what the popup looks like.
If you choose to add a new version, you can then later see the different versions in the file bar. Click a file bar and then click the "versions" button.
This will expand the bar and display the list of versions with the most recent at the top.
Attach URL Link to External Files (such as SharePoint or Google Drive)
You can create a URL object to the same locations you can attach files where this URL object can point to and open an external file that has its own URL link. For example you could associate a Google Drive document or an Office 365 Drive document. You could also associate a file inside your firewall, such as on SharePoint.
- Open a task and click on the paperclip icon for the attachment view.
- Click the down arrow to the right of the Add File button to expand and show more options.
- Click the Add URL button. This will bring up a new file object bar.
- Enter the name of your file and its URL link.
- To open the file, click on the globe icon and your browser will open a new tab and open that file on the web.
When you hover over a link file bar, you will see the "Click ->" pointing to the globe icon to help you find where to click.
When you hover over the file location text ("slice" or "task") you will see a popup showing you its location in the project or recipe. Then just click on the blue text in that popup to take you to the location.
Delete File or URL Object
To delete either the file or URL object, click the file or URL bar and then click the delete trash icon for the file or the delete button for the URL.
