Free Plan: Post messages at the project or recipe level.
Pro & Enterprise Plans: Post message, ideas, issues & risks at project, slice, and task levels.
How-to Video
There are three kinds of posts:
- Messages — For general messages with team members
- Ideas — For posting about project or recipe content improvement
- Issues (and risks) — For raising issues and risks
You can post in these areas:
- Project POSTS tab
- Project POSTS tab slice level
- Project task
- Recipe POSTS tab
- Recipe POSTS tab slice level
- Recipe task
- On My Plate page task that is a project task
- On My Plate page POSTS tab displays posts. You cannot start a post there, but can reply to a post from that page.
- Project List page project status button to the left of the projects
- Reports / Dashboard / Table page in Comments
- Reports / Dashboard / Issue Log page
MESSAGES tab
Use this tab to post a message that is not an issue, risk, or idea. This is for normal conversations about the project.
IDEAS tab
Use this tab to post a an idea for the project or for the recipe being used on the project. This can be very powerful for building a culture of constant improvement.
ISSUES tab (includes RISKS)
Use this tab to post a message an issue or a risk. This type of post has extra information that can be set up, such as
- Type - Use to choose between an issue or a risk. The default is issue.
- Priority - Choose Low, Medium, or High
- Owner - The default is set to the creator, but it can be changed to another member. When you do assign a different owner, the app will send them a notification email.
- Status - Change from open to close.
When an issue or risk is marked on a task, you will see an issue (red) or risk (yellow) button to the right of the task bar.
Post notification indicators
The post header tabs and chat icons on tasks will display notification icons to indicate if you have a new message or an issue you own. In the below image, MESSAGES has a new message posted by a team member. IDEAS has a message too, but that one is directed to you. ISSUES has an issue or a risk (red dot for both types) that is owned by you. ISSUES also has a message posted by a team member that is not directed to you.
- Purple dot: You have a new message directed to you.
- Red dot: You have an issue or risk that is owned by you.
- Gray open circle dot - There's a new message posted by a member (although not necessarily directed to you)
If a post without any replies has a purple dot to its left, this means this is a new unread post. If the post has a reply and there's a purple dot to the left of the reply button, then the post could either be new or not new, but there's a new unread reply.
Once you tab into the post header to look at the posts (and expand an unread reply) and then you click elsewhere, the post indicators will clear.
Edit and delete posts
The post creator, project admin, or workspace admin are the only permissions that can edit the original post title and description (and the four fields in an issue post). These people can also delete the entire post.
Reply to posts and edit a reply
Any user who can see a post can reply to that post. Editing or deleting a reply can be done by the replying person, and also the project admin and the workspace admin.
Go to Post feature
When you open a post you may see a "go to" link to help you jump to that post's location. This is when you're viewing the post that is outside of where it was created. For example, if a post was created at a task level in a project and you're reading the post from your On My Plate page, this will make it handy for you to know where the post lives and give you the ability to click a link to take you to that post's location.
On My Plate page Posts
Your On My Plate page has a tab for Posts. That posts will show posts from messages, ideas, and issues that are related to you based on the following:
- Posts you created
- Posts you were mentioned on
- Posts you replied to
- Posts added to your assigned tasks
